#2020_Resolutions #More_Books
I have just finished my first book of the year, The Arab Winter: A Tragedy. By Hoah Feldman. Princton University Press, pp.180, Forthcoming. A mervalous book – that I had the chance to read before it is official publication.
The book discusses the Arab Spring, and the aftermath. A great analysis of the “Arab Want”, followed by a discussion of what happened in Egypt, Syria, Iraq, and Tunisia. Each an example of possible ways the after revolution can end up.
I found many ideas challenging and for sure needs more elaboration and thinking from my side. I can’t but agree with most of the arguments made.
The final chapter on Tunisia of the success of a constituitonal democracy – although with a failure in the economic reforms that were and still needed – gives us hope for the Arab World – that something like this is still possible.
