هذا الكتاب هو الأكثر شهرة لثوماس هوبس والذي كتبه في العام 1651 أي عندما كان المؤلف عمره 63 سنة وبالتالي ليس هذا الكتاب أول منشوراته! وقد قام بتحديثه في العام 1668 أي قبل 9 سنوات من وفاته في العام 1679 عن عمر 91 سنة! سمعت عن هذا الكتاب والأفكار الواردة فيه طبعا أثناء دراساتي بل وأستخدم بعضها أثناء التدريس ولكنني لم أقرأ أبداً هذا الكتاب الضخم (حوالي 600 صفحة) والمتاح حالياً بشكل كامل الكترونياً. الكتاب أيضاً متاح للاستماع وهو ما قمت به مستغلاً وقت الفراغ المعتاد (أثناء السواقة أو قبل النوم وما شابه) للاستماع لهذا الكتاب الهام في ملف من 11 ساعة تقريباً. هناك فصول كثيرة تتعرض للكنيسة وتحليل الكتاب المقدس ولكن كلها مهمة لربطه مفهوم السلطة المدنية بالسلطة الكنسية/الدينية في حينه. على المستوى الشخصي تشجعني فكرة أن بعض المؤلفين أمثال هوبس (وكما علمت أيضاً بأن هذا ينطبق أيضاً على إيمانويل كانت) كتبوا مؤلفهم الذي خلدهم بالتاريخ في مراحل عمرية متقدمة. وبالتالي هناك دائما فرصة للعمل على ايجاد تلك المساحة الخاصة بكل شخص فينا لترك الأثر للمستقبل من خلال مؤلف واحد أو أكثر. هناك وقت. ليس بالكثير. لكن هناك وقت. 🙂
